Fontinalis Partners promotes three to partner

Fontinalis Partners has announced the promotions of Chris Cheever, Chris Thomas and Laura Petterle to partner. Cheever and Thomas co-founded Fontinalis in 2009 with Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, Ralph Booth and Mark Schulz. Petterle, the firm’s long-time chief financial officer, has move up from managing director.

Chris Cheever and Chris Thomas co-founded Fontinalis in 2009 with Bill Ford (Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company), Ralph Booth (an experienced private equity investor who has invested in, scaled, and exited media and telecom companies on three continents), and Mark Schulz (former President of International Operations for Ford Motor Company). Chris and Chris have played a large role in helping to manage the firm’s growing portfolio and brand in both transportation and venture capital circles. Both will continue to have responsibility for a wide array of critical processes at Fontinalis, ranging from deal sourcing and execution to corporate operations and business strategy. They currently serve on the board of directors of numerous Fontinalis portfolio companies and have been critical to the firm’s business development activities across its portfolio.

Prior to Fontinalis, Chris Cheever held various principal investment roles at LaunchCapital, Highbridge Principal Strategies and UBS. Chris earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Yale School of Management and he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University.

Prior to Fontinalis, Chris Thomas conducted financial and strategic analysis at Ford Motor Company and as a technology banker at UBS. Chris also served in the U.S. Army as a Communications Officer in Iraq. Chris earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Yale School of Management and he holds multiple Bachelor of Arts degrees from Michigan State University.

Laura Petterle, the firm’s long- time CFO has also ascended from Managing Director to Partner. Laura has extensive financial and transactional experience helping organizations build financial reporting systems, execute on their business plans and complete domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestures. In her capacity as CFO for Fontinalis, Laura manages a team of professionals that oversees all aspects of financial reporting, governance and compliance, transactional and legal due diligence and shareholder relations. Laura will continue to play a critical role across the firm and all of its portfolio companies.

As a finance professional, Laura has tremendous M&A experience having spent over thirty years of her career in similar roles at both Booth American Company and Maclean Hunter. Laura holds a Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of Michigan.
