Maureen Kerr has joined Forbes Private Capital Group as a senior managing director in its New York office. Kerr will be responsible for insurance coverage in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Prior to Forbes, she worked as a director with Barclays where she developed and managed the Japanese Yen private placement platform.
In a significant addition to its North American distribution team FPCG, LLC d.b.a. Forbes Private Capital Group (“FPCG”) announced today that Maureen Kerr has joined the firm as Senior Managing Director in its New York office. Ms. Kerr will assume responsibility for insurance coverage in the Americas, Europe and Asia. She joins FPCG eight months following its management buyout and brings over 25 years of banking experience across debt capital markets, investment banking and coverage of insurance assets.
Most recently, Ms. Kerr served as a Director with Barclays where she developed and managed the Japanese Yen private placement platform. These complex placements enable life insurance companies to match assets and liabilities while providing a long-term financing alternative for corporate, utility, infrastructure, and sovereign issuers worldwide. Prior to joining Barclays, she built similar private placement businesses at both Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers where she served as a global relationship manager for these key investors.
A proven leader in global team management, Ms. Kerr successfully executed over $8.5 billion of bilaterally negotiated private placements for one of Japan’s largest life insurance companies. “Maureen combines senior international experience with a strong track record of effectively partnering across divisions with a deep understanding of regulatory, market, and legal frameworks,” said FPCG’s Chief Executive David Conrod. Mr. Conrod added, “Maureen’s expertise brings well-established, immediate relationships to our capital raising business. Strategically, we seek to improve our insurance coverage to capitalize on the increased alternative investment allocations in this persistently low interest rate environment.”
Commenting on the synergies of FPCG’s market initiatives within the insurance industry, Ms. Kerr said, “Forbes offers a particularly compelling opportunity to help build an insurance solutions business at a time when the sector’s available funds for alternatives are enormous. There is a strong demand for fresh investment ideas away from plain vanilla fixed income and equity.”
Ms. Kerr was among the leaders of Barclays Woman’s Initiative Network, where she directed and moderated the Fireside Chat series profiling C-level executives. She serves as the Finance and Development Chair on the Board of Directors of The Warhol Museum, one of The Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.
