Founders buy back Sportdecals

Sportdecals has been reacquired by its founders, Don and Paul Metivier and former CEO Chris Gagnon. Prospect Partners, which acquired Sportsdecals in 2013, was the seller. Financial terms weren’t announced. Sportsdecals, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, provides helmet decals – primarily for football, baseball, softball, lacrosse, and hockey – and spirit decals (vehicle stickers).

Sportdecals®; the leader in supplying thousands of schools and organizations nationwide for nearly 50 years, are the experts in helmet decals, awards, spirit wear, uniforms, & more.

Today, Don Metivier, his brother Paul and former CEO Chris Gagnon announced their reacquisition of Sportdecals®, a company launched in northern Illinois nearly 50 years ago. Sportdecals® serves more than 10,000 high schools, colleges, clubs and organizations through the sale of custom team uniforms, spirit wear and decals.

Chris Gagnon will begin his services as CEO and President of Sportdecals® as well as sister companies Absolutely Custom, Procals, TeamWear1, and Galapagos Studios.

“At Sportdecals, we promise to do what no one else can, and we have always delivered in spades,” Gagnon said. “Our commitment is simple. Focus on providing our customers with award-winning customer service, exceptional high-quality products, value driven pricing, and the fastest delivery in the industry. Add spectacular custom artwork that is always free, and you have a winning formula that others simply cannot duplicate. That’s our promise.”

Sportdecals® is the industry leader in custom helmet decals and spirit decals. In-house customization ensures consistent high-quality products and fast turnaround. And because there is no middle man, pricing is always value-driven. Sportdecals decorates over 2 million garments and produces over 700,000 helmet decals annually, making them your one-stop-shop for all decals, spirit wear and uniform needs. With a massive in-house embroidery department, digital print capabilities, dye sublimation, heat transfer and a state of the art screen-printing operation, they can accommodate even the most challenging decoration needs.

“Nearly 50 years ago, I started Sportdecals in my kitchen”, Don Metivier said. “It amazed me that so many companies didn’t understand the need to do whatever it takes to satisfy the customer. We saw the opportunity to add tremendous value by filling the need, and we ran with it. But after being gone just a few years, you now see the same poor attitude and lack of commitment toward the customer. That’s why we’re back!”

“We had an opportunity to take back Sportdecals, and have already hit the ground running”, said Paul Metivier. “We also have [several] new and innovative ideas for improvement that will benefit current and new customers. Easy to understand value pricing, free shipping and expedited delivery options are only a few of the offerings we plan to roll out in the near future.”

Look out for more updates on Sportdecals®! We can’t wait to serve you both on and off the field.
