Funding Circle has raised $65 million in a Series D funding round led by Index Ventures. Launched in 2010, the business is an online marketplace for business lending.
Existing investors Accel Partners, Union Square Ventures and Ribbit Capital also participated in the financing. In total, Funding Circle has raised $123 million.
The funding will be used to grow the company, expand product ranges and explore new international markets.
Bob Steel, CEO of Perella Weinberg Partners and former Under Secretary for Domestic Finance of the United States Treasury, will join the Funding Circle board. Steel will combine his position as Funding Circle non-executive director with his existing role at Perella Weinberg and extensive non-profit work.
