Granite Investment Group recruits Hocker as president

Irvine, California-based Granite Investment Group, a commercial real estate-focused investment management firm, has named Ken Hocker as president. Previously, Hocker was an executive vice president at Los Angeles-based Vintage Real Estate, a national real estate investment firm.

IRVINE, Calif. – Feb. 5, 2018 – Granite Investment Group announced today that Ken Hocker, a veteran of the commercial real estate industry with more than three decades of experience, has joined the firm as president. Hocker is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and the development and implementation of the company’s strategic plan.

Throughout his career, Hocker has been responsible for more than $1.8 billion in commercial and multifamily acquisitions, ground-up development projects and the repositioning of value-add properties. His more than 30-year career includes: corporate and financial oversight; property development and acquisition; personnel management; operations; and asset management.

Prior to joining Granite Investment Group, Hocker spent seven years as executive vice president with Vintage Real Estate, a national real estate investment firm based in Los Angeles, where he played an instrumental role in its growth of more than 300 percent to become a $1 billion private equity firm. Previously, he was regional director of acquisitions and development for Weingarten Realty Investors (NYSE: WRI), a publicly traded real estate investment trust. He also served as principal and senior vice president with Equitable Real Estate Investment Management and subsequently Lend Lease Corporation, which acquired Equitable during Hocker’s tenure.

Hocker earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from The University of Texas at Austin.
