Gunderson Dettmer Elects Six Partners

Specialty business law firm Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian has added six new partners to its corporate and securities group, intellectual properties group, and venture and private equity funds group: Darrin Brown; Joshua Cook; Michael Irvine; Jerry Ku; David Sharrow; and Greg Volkmar. The firm is based in Redwood City, Calif.

Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, LLP announced today that it had elected six new partners. Four will become partners in the Corporate and Securities practice group, one in the Intellectual Property group and one in the Venture and Private Equity Fund group.

The new partners are:

DARRIN BROWN (Silicon Valley) Darrin advises venture capital and private equity funds on a wide variety of operational, fundraising and tax matters. Darrin has specialty expertise in the formation of domestic and international private equity and venture capital funds. Darrin earned a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

JOSHUA COOK (Silicon Valley) Josh specializes in representing emerging growth companies and venture capital firms. Josh represents a wide variety of technology companies from consumer internet, software, telecommunications and entertainment technology industries, as well as a number of leading venture capital firms. Josh earned his J.D. from Georgetown University.

MICHAEL IRVINE (Silicon Valley) Mike represents a wide variety of emerging growth companies at all stages of development as well as a wide array of venture capital and other investors. Mike earned his J.D. from Columbia University.

JERRY KU (Silicon Valley) Jerry specializes in the representation of startup companies from corporate formation and governance matters to initial public offerings and a variety of M&A transaction structures. Jerry is fluent in Mandarin and experienced in counseling and representing companies in the Silicon Valley and The People’s Republic of China. Jerry earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School.

DAVID SHARROW (New York) David, who was previously a partner of the firm, heads our Technology Group in our New York office. David specializes in the areas of intellectual property counseling, intellectual property transactions; U.S. and international corporate partnering; strategic alliances; joint ventures and spin-offs; technology acquisition and licensing; intellectual property strategy, counseling, protection and commercialization; as well as assisting with the intellectual property and technology aspects of venture capital financings, public offerings and mergers/acquisitions. David holds a Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Catholic University of America.

GREG VOLKMAR (New York) Greg specializes in representing emerging growth companies, venture capital financing transactions and a variety of M&A transaction structures. Greg earned his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
