Harry Sachinis Joins Advent International

Harry Sachinis has joined Advent International as an operating partner, with a particular focus on the publishing and information services sectors. He previously was president of The McGraw-Hill Companies’ business information group.

Advent International, the global private equity firm, today announced that Harry Sachinis has joined the firm’s Operating Partner Programme to advise on global investment opportunities in the media sector with a particular focus on the subsectors of publishing and information services.

Until recently, Harry was President of The McGraw-Hill Companies’ Business Information Group, comprising Platts, McGraw-Hill Construction, and McGraw-Hill Aerospace & Defense. Under his leadership each unit became a leader in its field, and he established the Group as one of the top global business-to-business information and media providers in the world.

Prior to that Harry was President of Platts which he built into the world’s largest commodities information services and solutions provider, leading it into new areas such as electronic trading. In addition he was also Group Vice President at Standard & Poor’s, where he grew key strategic businesses and developed one of them into a global financial quote distributor on the internet.

Based in New York, Harry is a US and Greek national. He holds an engineering degree from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He speaks four languages.
