Hickory Growth Partners debuts

Memphis-based Hickory Growth Partners, a financial services company that serves mostly high-net worth customers and institutions in the South and South Central U.S., has launched. Aequitas Capital, Gavion LLC and HighTower will serve as advisors.

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Feb. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Hickory Growth Partners, a partner-owned financial services company serving primarily high-net-worth clients and institutions across 12 states, announced its launch today. The new firm is the result of the unique vision shared by a coalition of industry leaders who have pooled their talents and resources to accelerate the growth of financial advisors in an underserved region by providing vital support services and investment opportunities.

Hickory Growth Partners has forged a partnership with three financial services firms—Aequitas Capital, Gavion LLC, and HighTower— to serve advisors in the South and South Central regions of the United States who want to grow independently, but lack the resources to do so on their own. Through Hickory Growth Partners, entrepreneurial advisors will have access to the resources of Aequitas Capital, Gavion, and HighTower.

“In creating Hickory Growth Partners, we have meticulously selected a team of industry leading firms to provide critical support to advisors who want to break away from the integrated broker/dealer or large Wall Street firms or their companion banks, and offer clients superior investment opportunities and services on their own,” said James Ganier, CEO of Hickory Growth Partners. “We bring advanced technology and superior investment opportunities to growth-minded advisors who want to establish an independent business.”

Aequitas, a diversified financial services company that creates alternative investments including private equity, private credit and specialty finance, has committed tens of millions of dollars in capital to Hickory Growth Partners, and is providing vital human resources, accounting and other back office infrastructure to the firm’s advisors.

Gavion, a financial investment advisory firm which like Hickory Growth Partners is based in Memphis, provides advisors with access to institutional investment opportunities. Gavion has a history of more than 20 years as an institutional consulting firm the majority of whose business comes from serving the same states as Hickory Growth Partners. They have an impressive client list and more than $19 billion in client assets under advisement.

Through HighTower, Hickory Growth Partners will have access to an open architecture investment platform as well as operational infrastructure, including the firm’s expert transition teams, who will help advisors quickly and efficiently transfer assets and clients. Hickory Growth Partners is also a newly-minted member of HighTower, leveraging the robust services and technology platform now available to independent RIAs.

Mr. Ganier is a former financial advisor who has cultivated extensive relationships with industry leaders throughout the South and South Central United States.

“We are deeply rooted in the South and are uniquely qualified to work with advisors in this historically overlooked market. We are also both leveraging our own extensive backgrounds as financial advisors to help build these teams and identify the best investment opportunities for their clients,” added Mr. Ganier. “Hickory Growth Partners – advisor driven, client focused – is a winning trifecta of growth partnerships with high-quality advisory teams who have a vested interest in each other’s success.”
