Hiro Yoshihara, former international vice chairman of KPMG, has joined Permira as a senior advisor. He will focus on Japanese opportunities in the tech, media and telecom sectors.
Permira, a leading international private equity firm, today announced the appointment of Hiroaki (Hiro) Yoshihara, the former International Vice Chairman of KPMG, as a Senior Adviser to the Firm. Mr. Yoshihara will advise Permira on opportunities in the technology, media and telecom (TMT) sectors, particularly those involving Japanese companies.
Mr. Yoshihara spent his career from 1978 until his retirement in 2007 at KPMG, where he was most recently International Vice Chairman and Global Managing Partner, responsible for the development and execution of the firm’s global market and industry strategy as well as oversight of KPMG’s top 250 global accounts.

During his career, he built a distinguished track record of providing strategic advisory services to numerous well-respected global leading companies. While at KMPG, Mr. Yoshihara held numerous top positions at the company including serving as the Chairman of the Global
Electronics Industry Sector, the Chairman of the Global Japanese Practice Sector, the National Managing Partner of the Pacific Rim Practice, and the Chairman and CEO, KPMG Global Solutions Co. Ltd. and KPMG Business Advisory LLC. Mr. Yoshihara was also a member of
KPMG LLP’s Board of Directors where he served on the Board’s Governance, Compensation and Nomination Committees. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Murata Manufacturing, a leading electronic components manufacturer in Japan as well Senior Adviser to KPMG Japan. Mr. Yoshihara is also a Chaired Professor at Hitotsubashi University Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy and was Distinguished Visiting Practitioner at Stanford University. Mr. Yoshihara holds CPA licenses both in Japan and U.S., and received a B.S. degree in Economics from Osaka University in Japan.
