Insight Equity, a Dallas-based private equity firm focused on the middle markets, announced that it has closed its second fund at $525 million, including $90 million for mezzanine investing. peHUB previously reported that the original target was $750 million.
Insight Equity has completed its current fundraising efforts and is now fully closed on $525 million of new capital. Insight Equity’s investors include blue chip educational endowments, private foundations and retirement funds. With both equity capital as well as captive mezzanine debt at its disposal, the firm is poised to partner with its network of lenders to pursue new investment opportunities.
Insight Equity’s strategy is to make control investments in middle market, strategically viable, asset intensive companies with transformational upside. The firm has remained true to this strategy since inception because it has been instrumental in delivering top decile returns to its investors. Insight Equity’s target deal size is $50 million to $250 million and invests in companies with revenue primarily between $75 million and $1 billion. Insight Equity takes a very “hands on” operationally intensive approach to managing its portfolio companies. The process begins with the joint development of a “value creation plan” followed by frequent, no less than monthly, meetings to work implementation issues and to brainstorm new and improved ways for adding value to each enterprise.
