IR exec jumps from PE to VC, notes ‘most exciting’ companies are in venture world

Katie Bluhm, former private equity investor relations professional, has joined ff Venture Capital to help build and formalize the IR function at the firm.

Prior to ff Venture Capital, Bluhm worked in investor relations at distressed investment manager Black Diamond Capital Management. Before that, she worked in client services at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Culturally, the world of venture capital seems like another planet compared to private equity. Bluhm acknowledge the different tone, but said there was another reason to come into the venture world.

“Pretty much all the most exciting and interesting portfolio company stories are coming out of the VC space,” she said.

Bluhm and Aishwarya Iyer, ff Venture Capital’s director of communications, declined to comment about any future fundraising plans Bluhm might help run. The firm announced in January it had closed on $52 million for a third fund that had been targeting $50 million.

Bluhm’s hiring comes as the firm rolls out an online portal for LP reporting and transparency, part of a broader initiative at the firm to enhance investor relations, Iyer said.
