Job of the Week: HIG BioVentures Recruiting for Venture Professional

Life science venture capital firm HIG BioVentures is looking for a venture capital investment professional to join its team in building and nurturing its life sciences portfolio.

According to HIG BioVentures’ job description investment professionals within the business take “supporting roles in the research, evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and financing of transactions, as well as in the monitoring and operating initiatives within portfolio companies.”

The investment professionals work as team members on small deal teams in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment and have constant interaction with senior members of the firm and portfolio company management.

HIG BioVentures’ stresses that individuals need to have between two and five years’ of relevant experience and are expected to handle a meaningful level of responsibility from the beginning of their career within the firm.

According to the job description, the successful candidate will have a scientific background and may have worked within a biopharmaceutical or medical device company, with exposure to both the technical and business aspects of the company. The applicant may also have had experience with scientific, clinical and business due diligence as well as M&A, licensing and/or business development partnerships. Experience in investment analysis, research, banking or direct investment experience, would also stand an applicant in good stead.

HIG BioVentures also states the ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in the biosciences or a related field.
