Northbrook, Ill.-based KapStone Paper and Packaging Corp. has completed its US$1.025 billion purchase of Longview, Wis.-based Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging Inc., which makes containerboard, corrugated containers and paper products. The deal provided an exit for Brookfield Capital Partners II, which is part of the private equity group of Toronto-based Brookfield Asset Management. Brookfield invested in Longview in April 2007.

On July 18, 2013, KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation completed its $1.025 billion acquisition of Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging, and has firmly established KapStone as a leader in the paper and packaging industry. The combined assets include four paper mills with eleven paper machines, and twenty-two corrugated packaging plants strategically positioned from coast-to-coast across the United States.
