KeyBanc Capital Markets hires Griffin as MD

KeyBanc Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Cleveland-based KeyCorp, has named Paul Griffin as a managing director for its financial sponsors investment banking group. Previously, Griffin worked at BMO Capital Markets where he served as a managing director in the technology investment banking group and head of software investment and corporate banking.

CLEVELAND (May 11, 2015) – KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc., the corporate and investment banking arm of Cleveland-based KeyCorp (NYSE:KEY), announced today that Paul Griffin has joined the bank as a Managing Director in its Financial Sponsors Investment Banking Group. In his new role, Paul will be responsible for managing relationships and originating capital markets, leveraged finance and M&A advisory engagements with technology-focused private equity and venture capital firms. He will be based in Boston and report to Andrew Vollmer, Managing Director and Head of the Financial Sponsors, Consumer & Retail and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups at KeyBanc Capital Markets.

Paul brings nearly 20 years of investment banking experience in the technology, software and ecommerce sectors, serving as a senior-level advisor to boards of directors, executive management teams, private equity firms and venture capital investors.

Prior to joining KeyBanc Capital Markets, Paul was a Managing Director in the Technology Investment Banking Group and Head of Software Investment & Corporate Banking at BMO Capital Markets. There, he was tasked with starting and building the Software Investment & Corporate Banking Group, with a focus on mid-cap and growth-equity technology companies.

Previously, Paul was a Managing Director in the Technology Investment Banking Group and Head of Software Investment Banking at Cowen and Company, LLC, where he led the firm’s origination activities in the enterprise software sector and was responsible for client relationship management and new business development.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Boston College and Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Columbia Business School. He holds both Series 7 & 63 License Designations.
