Lebenthal Asset Management LLC has named Barbara Doran as a portfolio manager. She is a former senior portfolio manager and wealth advisor at Morgan Stanley.

Lebenthal Asset Management, LLC (“LAM”), the asset management division of Lebenthal Holdings, LLC, announced today that industry veteran Barbara Doran has joined the company. As a portfolio manager, Ms. Doran will focus on large-cap growth equity strategies, joining a team that currently has capabilities in all-cap value, all-cap GARP, small- and mid-cap growth, income equity and taxable and tax-exempt fixed income.

“I am pleased to welcome Barb Doran to Lebenthal,” said James B. Lebenthal, president of LAM. “Her specific portfolio management acumen will be a great resource for Lebenthal Asset Management and its client base, while her marketing skills will play a vital role in our asset-gathering process. But more importantly, it is Barb’s institutional experience and personal gravitas that will be most additive to our collective efforts. Barb operates at such a high level of competence and professionalism that she raises the game of everyone around her. I am confident that Barb’s presence will benefit our entire enterprise at Lebenthal.”

Ms. Doran has worked for over 25 years in the financial services industry, with experience in portfolio management, wealth advisory and investment research. She was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Wealth Advisor at Morgan Stanley and was the former Research Investment Officer of Neuberger Berman, where she co-managed a technology fund and was Interim Director of Equity Research. Previously, she founded and managed a long/short equity hedge fund and a third party marketing firm that specialized in asset raising and business consulting for hedge funds and private equity firms. She also worked as a senior institutional equity salesperson and proprietary capital manager for First Boston and Lehman Brothers. In addition, she is a former member of both the US Women’s Lacrosse Team and the US Field Hockey Team, and represented the US in international competition. She is and has been a member of numerous nonprofit boards, including Outward Bound, The Foundation for Child Development, MCC Theater, and the US Field Hockey and US Lacrosse Associations. She received an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a BA from Penn State University, where she is currently a member of the Board of Trustees and a member of the Board’s Executive Committee.

Ms. Doran said, “I am thrilled to be joining Lebenthal, a special firm that combines the excitement of a growth company with the tradition of a 90-year old institution. I am especially excited to be joining Alexandra and Jimmy Lebenthal as well as Lebenthal’s chairman, Jeff Lane, the former head of Neuberger. Jeff, Alex and Jimmy have created something special at Lebenthal, and I look forward to contributing to its growth and its legacy.”
