“Zero Real-World Skills, But God They Work Hard”

I was amused by the inclusion of the banking crisis in last night’s episode of the Emmy-award winning (yet under-appreciated) NBC sitcom, 30 Rock.

In it, the gang hires laid-off Wall Street bankers as interns. Tina Fey’s character, Liz Lemon, asks, “Aren’t they a little old, and overdressed?”

Says Alec Baldwin’s character, Jack Donaghy: “They’re all former investment bankers who were laid off by the economic crisis that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have zero real-world skills, but God they work hard.”

The show pokes fun at Wall Street stereotypes, as the interns out-party Tracy Morgan’s character, drinking yards of beer and flaming shots at some variety of a McHoolihan O’Brianigan’s Irish pub. Eventually Tracy buys Lehman Brothers so they can return to their jobs. Here’s a clip from the opening scene:

Seems YouTube pulled the clip, but here’s the whole episode on Hulu (the clip is within first few minutes):
