I was amused by the inclusion of the banking crisis in last night’s episode of the Emmy-award winning (yet under-appreciated) NBC sitcom, 30 Rock.
In it, the gang hires laid-off Wall Street bankers as interns. Tina Fey’s character, Liz Lemon, asks, “Aren’t they a little old, and overdressed?”
Says Alec Baldwin’s character, Jack Donaghy: “They’re all former investment bankers who were laid off by the economic crisis that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have zero real-world skills, but God they work hard.”
The show pokes fun at Wall Street stereotypes, as the interns out-party Tracy Morgan’s character, drinking yards of beer and flaming shots at some variety of a McHoolihan O’Brianigan’s Irish pub. Eventually Tracy buys Lehman Brothers so they can return to their jobs. Here’s a clip from the opening scene:
