Evercore Partners Inc. (NYSE: EVR) announced today that Les Fabuss has joined the firm’s Advisory business as a Senior Managing Director. Mr. Fabuss’ appointment is effective today and he will be based in New York. He comes to Evercore after a 25-year career at Lehman Brothers, where he most recently served as a Vice Chairman of Global Investment Banking.
At Evercore, Mr. Fabuss will advise corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions and other strategic transactions. He will apply his extensive experience in the aerospace and defense industry and in working with private equity firms.
“Les is a tremendous addition to our team and I know that he will be a great source of advice and counsel to our clients,” said Roger C. Altman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Evercore Partners. “I have known Les since he joined me at Lehman in 1984. He is a professional of impeccable credentials and integrity. Les will work closely with Ian Ferguson and Omar Namoos in building our global aerospace and defense practice. His appointment affirms our continued focus on attracting top quality talent, even in this difficult market environment.”
During his quarter-century tenure at Lehman Brothers, Mr. Fabuss advised on a number of major transactions. His recent transactions include advising Finmeccanica on its $5.2 billion acquisition of DRS; Engineered Support Systems on its $1.9 billion sale to DRS; Titan on its $2.7 billion sale to L-3 Communications; United Defense Industries on its $4.2 billion sale to BAE Systems; and an investor group on the buyout of Hertz. He also has advised The Carlyle Group and other financial sponsors on numerous transactions.
“Evercore is one of the top advisory firms in the world because it adheres to the principles that matter most – integrity, strict attention to the needs of the client and independent counsel that is not compromised by conflicts,” said Mr. Fabuss. “I am excited to be working with Roger again and I look forward to partnering with him and my new colleagues to help Evercore extend its advisory capabilities and grow amid the changing landscape on Wall Street and well into the future.”
Mr. Fabuss, 56, began his investment banking career in 1979 at Dillon, Read & Co.
