Marvin Barth has joined Tennenbaum Capital Partners as chief investment strategist. He previously was chief economist for international affairs with the U.S. Treasury Department.
Tennenbaum Capital Partners, LLC, today announced that Marvin Barth has joined the firm as Chief Investment Strategist.
Mr. Barth was previously Chief Economist for International Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he served as the principal economic advisor to the Under Secretary for International Affairs and led the Treasury Department's monitoring and analysis of international asset markets, foreign exchange markets, and commodity markets, with a focus on risk assessment.

Tennenbaum, Senior Managing Partner. “Marvin will bolster our ability to synthesize the flow of proprietary information from our portfolio companies, economic statistics from outside sources and capital market information from our trading desk to evaluate the opportunities and risks of potential investments.”
Prior to joining the Treasury Department, Mr. Barth served as a Global Currency Economist at Citigroup Global Markets Ltd. in London, where he advised institutional investor, hedge fund and corporate clients on investment and hedging decisions in foreign exchange and fixed income markets. Along with the Head of Currency Research & Chief Currency Strategist, Mr. Barth also managed a global research team that conducted research and originated Citigroup's positions related to G-10 currency markets.
From 1998 to 2003, Mr. Barth worked for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, first as a Southeast Asia Economist, monitoring economic and political developments in Southeast Asia and advising senior staff and Governors about regional risks. Beginning in 1999, Mr. Barth shifted focus to global financial markets, tracking developments in worldwide financial markets and providing regular briefings to the Fed Chairman and Governors.
Mr. Barth received an M.A. in Economics and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California San Diego in 1996 and 1998, respectively.
