Highlighted for her work with Equidity as a Silicon Valley “women to watch” for Forbes’ “World’s Most Powerful Women” list, Mona DeFrawi is dedicated to US capital formation, economic development & job creation. Supporting the entrepreneurial companies that contribute most to US economic growth, technological leadership & improving our lives, Mona has delivered results in fundraising, IPOs, corporate development & investor relations for the past 25 years.
From helping establish one of the first University Tech Transfer offices, to 10 years working Wall Street as a team member of four companies that IPO-ed, to founding four companies as CEO (& selling two), to raising a $500M first-time private equity fund, to authoring legislation & lobbying it into law, unleashing over $3B of venture investment, & more — Mona sees Equidity as her greatest opportunity yet to deliver value. Asked by VC leaders to help fix the broken IPO markets in 2007, Mona founded InsideVenture, which was acquired by SecondMarket in 2009. Seeing economic conditions deteriorate & knowing that primary liquidity & IPOs are key to the entrepreneurship ecosystem that is the US economic growth engine, Mona was compelled to found Equidity, a pre-IPO platform for successful IPOs, aftermarkets, fundraising & liquidity.
Mona DeFrawi’s career was founded on a passionate belief that true wealth creation is rooted in successful long term investing, which also grows strong economies and societies. Having survived war, communist influence & third world poverty as a young child, to very gratefully enjoy the privilege of being an American, Mona is honored to support the entrepreneurship industry that delivers so much value to America and the world. Mona is an honors graduate of both Duke University (BA) & the University of MD (MBA), & also created & taught the graduate level Entrepreneurship course for Johns Hopkins University, School of Engineering.
