MHT PARTNERS ANNOUNCES FURTHER GROWTH IN BOTH DALLAS AND BOSTON
August 29, 2011 – MHT Partners is pleased to announce the hiring of John Mullen, Managing Director, Taylor Curtis, Director, Sanjay Gulati, Analyst, Casey O’Grady, Analyst, Dallas Office and Ada Lio, Analyst, Boston office. John and Taylor will lead the firm’s financial institutions coverage and private placement units. Sanjay, Casey, and Ada will focus on providing advisory and transaction execution services to technology-enabled service, education, business services and consumer-focused companies.
John Mullen joined MHT Partners in August 2011. Prior to joining MHT, Mr. Mullen was the Managing Partner of Connemara Capital LLC, a boutique financial advisory firm headquartered in Dallas, where he focused primarily on capital raises for private equity-owned portfolio companies. In 2009, Mr. Mullen and Mr. Curtis founded Connemara Bancorp, a bank holding company established for the purpose of buying failed banks from the FDIC. Previously, Mr. Mullen served as Managing Director of Corporate Strategy for ORIX USA Corporation; Chief Executive Officer of Comprendium Capital; Global Head of Structured Credit at ABN AMRO in London; Head of both Structured Finance and the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Investment Banking Group; Head of the Capital Markets Group, J.P. Morgan & Co.; and Head of the Fixed Income Markets Group, Tokyo, Corporate Finance and Co-Head of the Capital Markets Group, New York, of Goldman Sachs. Mr. Mullen graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelors degree in Communication Studies and a Master of Business Administration degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern.
Taylor Curtis joined MHT Partners in August 2011. Prior to joining MHT, he was a Partner with Connemara Capital and co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of Connemara Bancorp. He also worked with Mr. Mullen as Director of Corporate Strategy for ORIX USA Corporation. While at ORIX, he pursued a series of strategic acquisitions in the specialty lending, alternative asset management, real estate finance and banking industries. Previously, he served as Vice President and Assistant Treasurer for Concentra Inc. and Director in the Corporate Business Development group of Electronic Data Systems Corporation. He began his career in New York with Greenhill & Co., the boutique mergers and acquisitions advisory firm. Mr. Curtis graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in the Business Honors Program and Finance.
Sanjay Gulati joined MHT Partners in August 2011. Prior to joining MHT, Sanjay interned as a Financial Analyst for Merrill Lynch/Bank of America in their Global Wealth Management division. As part of the nation’s only Hindi Urdu Flagship Program, Sanjay spent his junior year studying abroad in India at the Indian Institute of Management on a full scholarship via the American Institute of Indian Studies Endowment. Sanjay was also a Junior Fellow, an honors program that selects students from the top 1% of the student body, for which he received a research grant for his work on microfinance. Sanjay graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in the Business Honors Program and Finance, as well as a BA in Asian Cultures and Languages.
Casey O’Grady joined MHT Partners in July 2011. Prior to joining MHT Partners, Casey worked as a Humanities Research Fellow and ESL tutor. During the summer of 2009, he served with the Rice Community Involvement Center as an English language instructor in Cochabamba, Bolivia. As a graduating senior, he received the philosophy department’s James Street Fulton Prize for Excellence in Philosophy. Casey graduated from Rice University with a BA in Philosophy and Mathematical Economic Analysis.
Ada Lio joined MHT Partners in July 2011. Prior to joining MHT Partners, Ada worked as a summer researcher at the Institute of Contemporary Asian Studies in Tokyo where she co-authored a paper on Japan-China relations. During the summer of 2010, she served as a summer associate for Deloitte in their Financial Advisory Services division in Shanghai. Throughout college, she worked on a public health initiative to address ethnic health disparities. Ada graduated from Harvard College with a BA in Economics and a minor in East Asian Studies.
