MHT Partners, a Dallas-based investment bank focused on middle-market growth companies and PE sponsors, has formed a private equity secondary advisory practice. It will be headed up by James Lee, who previously was with Cogent Partners.
MHT Partners, an investment banking firm focused on advisory services to middle market growth companies and private equity fund managers, announces the formation of its private equity secondary practice, MHT Secondary Advisors (“MHT SA”). MHT SA has been formed to serve Limited Partners (”LPs”) invested in private equity and other alternative assets.
MHT SA’s focus is to advise LPs in sell-side and buy-side transactions of investments in private equity funds on the secondary market. To lead this initiative, MHT SA has hired James Lee, who focused on secondary private equity transactions previously at Cogent Partners. MHT SA also leverages firm co-founder Shawn Terry’s previous experience with Crossroads Group, a private equity fund-of-funds acquired by Lehman Brothers (now Crossmark Investment Advisers), as well as MHT’s experience in forming five investment partnerships – two of which have been successfully realized, and three of which remain active.

MHT SA also provides valuation services to guide LPs in reporting fair market value of fund holdings in order to assist them with the implementation of FASB 157 and provide third party verification of alternative asset investment values.
