Mike McTighe To Advise General Atlantic

Mike McTighe has joined General Atlantic as a special advisor, with a particular focus on Europe. He is chairman of Pace, Volex Group and WYG Group.


General Atlantic LLC (“GA”), a leading global growth equity firm, today announced that Mike McTighe, Chairman of Pace, Volex Group and WYG Group, has been named a Special Advisor to the firm. In this role, Mr. McTighe will provide strategic counsel to GA and its portfolio companies with a focus on the European region, supporting the firm’s active value-added approach to partnering with growth companies.


Founded in 1980, GA has been an active investor in Europe for over two decades, with a strong history of identifying, investing in and supporting European growth companies including Markit, amedes Group, GlobalCollect, Saxo Bank and Xchanging. With a target investment size of £31 million ($50 million) and £310 million ($500 million), GA manages approximately £9.4 billion ($15 billion) and invests between £0.6 billion ($1.0 billion) and £1.5 billion ($2.5 billion) per year in growth opportunities globally.


GA’s Special Advisor network consists of experienced industry executives who work closely with GA’s investment professionals in identifying new opportunities as well as providing in depth expertise to GA’s portfolio companies.

Mr. McTighe currently serves as Chairman of the companies Pace, Volex Group, and WYG Group, and is a senior independent director of Betfair Ltd. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the United Kingdom’s Office of Communications, and a member of the Turnaround Panel at Lloyds Bank Group. He was recently voted the UK Quoted Companies 2010 Chairman of the Year.


Mr. McTighe previously served as Chairman and CEO of Carrier1 International SA, and before that as Executive Director and Chief Executive, Global Operations of Cable & Wireless.
