PRESS RELEASE
6Pacific Group announced today that natural products industry veteran Tom Newmark was named Chairman of the firm. Prior to joining 6Pacific Group, Newmark served as Vice Chairman of New Chapter, the leading brand of nutritional supplements in the natural channel, which was sold to Procter & Gamble in June 2012. Newmark assumes the role of Chairman from John Barrymore, who will retain the role of Managing Partner and will continue to be responsible for leading the firm’s private equity and advisory practices.
“I couldn’t be more honored for Tom Newmark to become Chairman of 6Pacific Group,” said Barrymore. “This new addition will elevate our visibility and effectiveness in many ways, especially through Tom’s industry perspectives and relationships. Tom and I have worked together successfully for many years, and we plan to collaborate broadly across our industry sectors.”
In his new role as Chairman of 6Pacific Group, Newmark will be responsible for assisting the firm on new advisory clients and new investment opportunities. He will utilize his experience and relationships within the natural products industry to help small companies achieve their growth goals. He will also help clients of 6Pacific Group to identify industry partnerships that leverage shared strategic vision.
“I look forward to bringing my perspectives and industry relationships to the leading platform for small consumer products companies,” said Newmark. “There are many opportunities to achieve growth and value creation in the natural products industry. By combining my industry contacts with the capital and network of resources of 6Pacific Group, we should be able to identify many attractive opportunities.”
Newmark is a thought leader in the field of sustainable business practices and a respected figure in the natural products industry. For over a decade, he worked with New Chapter, Inc., serving as its Chairman, CEO, President and ultimately Vice Chairman until New Chapter’s sale to Procter & Gamble in June 2012.  He is a conservationist, organic farmer, international businessperson, and former corporate litigation attorney with a special focus on anti-trust issues.  Newmark is also co-owner of Finca Luna Nueva, a certified organic and biodynamic spice estate and lodge in Costa Rica.
Newmark serves as a Board member of a number of important organizations, including Greenpeace, American Botanical Council, Sacred Seeds, The William L. Brown Center of the Missouri Botanical Garden, Global ID and Friends of the Children’s Eternal Rainforest. He was also a civil litigator, representing clients such as The Natural Law Party as it sought to gain inclusion in the 1996 presidential debates and the river otters of Missouri in an attempt to ban underwater trapping. Newmark also represented a wide array of corporate interests.
