OMERS Private Equity, an investment arm of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, has appointed Jonathan Mussellwhite as a managing director in its London office. Mussellwhite brings more than 18 years of private equity experience to the position. Previously, he was one of the founding partners of Cognetas LLP, a pan-European mid-market private equity firm, where he co-led the London office since 2009. Before then, he was a director at Electra Fleming, where he was involved in a wide range of buyout transactions.
OMERS Private Equity Announces Appointment of Jonathan Mussellwhite as Managing Director
OMERS Private Equity (“OPE”), the private equity arm of OMERS, one of Canada’s largest pension funds, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Mussellwhite as a Managing Director in its London office.
Jonathan brings over 18 years of private equity experience, investing across the UK and Continental Europe. Previously, Jonathan was one of the Founding Partners of Cognetas LLP, a pan-European mid-market private equity firm, where he co-led the London office from 2009. Prior to Cognetas, Jonathan was a Director at Electra Fleming, where he was involved in a wide range of buyout transactions. He began his career at Arthur Andersen in London, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Jonathan also brings with him a wealth of experience as a company director, having served on a variety of portfolio company boards.
OPE continues to build its presence in Europe and has successfully completed five transactions since establishing the London office in 2009, investing $1.3bn so far. In 2013, OPE acquired Vue Entertainment in equal partnership with Alberta Investment Management Corporation, for £935m and led the acquisition of specialist software, cloud-based IT services and technical outsourcing provider Civica for £390m. In 2012, OPE acquired supported living provider Lifeways in a £207m transaction and in 2011, led the $520m buyout of global shipping services provider V.Group. OPE also supported the $700m start-up of Hayfin Capital Management, a leading independent specialist provider of credit financing to mid-market European businesses, in 2009.
