PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Principle Capital, the Shanghai private equity firm, named Raymond Lau a vice president. Lau is former managing director of Lau Equity, a family investment office.

Tailwater Capital, the Dallas energy-focused private equity firm, promoted Joel Fry to partner; Scott Peters to vice president/E&P portfolio manager, and Clark Hudnall and Tanner Newton to senior associate.

ICV Partners promoted John Wallace to managing director and named Everett Hill managing director. Prior to joining ICV, Wallace was an independent consultant at Chastain Advisors while Hill has held leadership roles at Hostess Brands, Coca-Cola Enterprises and DuPont.

Leeds Equity Partners promoted Eric Geveda and Christopher Mairs to managing director. The private equity firm, which invests in the knowledge industries, also promoted Kevin Malone and David Neverson to principal.

Amulet Capital Partners, the Greenwich, Connecticut, healthcare-focused middle-market private equity firm, promoted Nick Amigone to partner and Gabriel Luft to principal. Both joined the firm in 2015.

TA Associates promoted 10 staff members from its Boston, Menlo Park, Hong Kong and Mumbai offices. Among them was Dhiraj Poddar, to managing director from director. He heads the Indian operations of TA Associates Advisory Pvt Ltd in Mumbai, focusing on investments in companies in India.

Ezra Mehlman, HEP

Health Enterprise Partners: Ezra Mehlman was promoted to managing partner. He joined the firm full time in 2012 after interning for two years.

BlueMountain Capital Management promoted Dava Ritchea and Jim Pieri to partner. Ritchea joined the firm in 2013 while Pieri came on board in 2012.

Borgman Capital named Michael Pepke a managing director. Pepke will remain a shareholder at the law firm Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren.

Bain Capital: Andrew Hack is joining as a managing director, the Boston Business Journal reported. Hack, a physician, had been CFO of Editas Medicine, a genome editing company.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Hybrid Apparel, the Cypress, California, apparel producer and distributor, named Bill Hutchison CEO. He previously was president at AM Retail Group. Hybrid Apparel is a portfolio company of Altamont Capital Partners.

Infogroup, the Papillion, Nebraska, provider of data and multichannel marketing solutions, named Andy Goldstein chief financial officer. He previously was CFO at Purch. Infogroup is backed by Court Square Capital Partners.

Gopher Resource, the Eagle, Minnesota, national environmental-solutions provider, named Brian Leen president and CEO. Leen previously was president and CEO at ADA Carbon Solutions. In addition, Eric Robinson is also joining Gopher from ADA as senior vice president and chief operating officer. Gopher Resource is backed by Energy Capital Partners.

KidKraft, the Dallas toymaker backed by MidOcean Partners, named Geoff Walker president and CEO. Walker is a former Mattel executive.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Seyfarth Shaw hired Mark Albert for the law firm’s corporate department in Chicago. Albert most recently was general counsel of Magic Leap, a tech company building a computing platform. Albert previously was a corporate partner at Perkins Coie and a founding member of its Palo Alto office.

Balance Point Capital promoted Lindsay Koltay to CFO. She’d joined Balance Point in 2015 as controller.

Macquarie Capital: Oliver Bradley rejoined the firm as a managing director focused on digital infrastructure. Most recently, Bradley was corporate finance director at CityFibre Infrastructure Holdings. He worked for Macquarie from 2005 to 2015.

Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association named Kim Furlong CEO. Furlong joins CVCA from Amgen Canada, where for more than a decade she was director of federal government affairs. Furlong succeeds Mike Woollatt, who served as CEO from 2014 to 2018. Founded in 1974, the Toronto group is the professional association for Canada’s VC and PE industry.

Daniela Messina, Avante

Avante Capital Partners, a women-owned private-credit and structured-equity firm that invests in lower-middle-market companies, named Daniela Messina director of business development and investor relations. Messina is former deputy general counsel for Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. She is also former director of business development for Nixon Peabody’s PE and family-office practice.

Latham & Watkins: The law firm named David Beller and Alexander Johnson partners in the corporate department of the law firm’s New York office and members of the M&A and PE practices. Beller previously was with Paul Weiss in New York while Johnson was with Hogan Lovells.

Sidley Austin: John H. Butler joined the law firm as a partner and a member of its global M&A and private equity practice. Butler previously worked at Davis Polk & Wardwell. 

JoAnne Feeney, Advisors Capital

Advisors Capital Management, a registered investment adviser, promoted JoAnne Feeney to partner. Feeney joined the firm in 2015 as a portfolio manager and a member of the firm’s investment committee.

LIMITED PARTNERS

California Public Employees’ Retirement System’s chief operating investment officer, Elisabeth Bourqui, resigned Jan. 7 after less than a year on the job. The pension fund named Dan Bienvenue acting COIO and said it would immediately begin recruiting a permanent successor to Bourqui.
