Mike O'Neill has joined Hudson Clean Energy Partners to help launch Element Power, a new portfolio company that will focus on utility-scale win and solar power generation. O'Neill is the former commercial director of Renewable Energy Systems Group.
Hudson Clean Energy Partners announced today that Mike O'Neill, former Commercial Director of Renewable Energy Systems Group (“RES“), will join Hudson in August to assist in the launch of newly formed renewable energy company Element Power and will occupy a senior leadership role in Element. Mike will join a dedicated team of executives led by Hudson Partner Joseph Slamm to build Element's global presence.
Mike O'Neill joins Element Power with over 15 years of experience in the renewable energy industry. Previously, he helped lead the evolution of RES into a multi-national renewable energy producer with almost 3,000 MW of projects built throughout the globe as well as having oversight on a development pipeline of over several thousand megawatts. In addition, O'Neill spent several years leading many of the project finance and international joint venture activities for RES.
Element Power will operate as an independent power producer focused on carbon free wind and solar energy sources at utility scale in the evolving global renewable energy marketplace. Element has already begun acquiring assets for its generation portfolio and expects to create a portfolio of greenfield and brownfield assets in major growth markets for renewable energy around the world.
Hudson Founder and Co-Managing Partner Neil Auerbach stated, “Hudson is dedicated to building the Element Power platform into a market leader. We are delighted that Mike is joining us to play a key role at Element. He has unparalleled credentials and is a real thought leader in the industry.“
Mr. O'Neill commented, “Hudson has amassed an impeccable team of investment professionals and industry experts. This is a tremendous opportunity to create value and serve as a catalyst for further growth of our industry.”
“We are passionate about identifying the very best managers in the renewable energy industry,” said John Cavalier, Co-Managing Partner of Hudson. “Mike has demonstrated his talent in providing great leadership to RES. Add recent Hudson hire Mike Hammond, former Finance Director of Airtricity US, and top it off with the experience of my partners Neil Auerbach and Joe Slamm in backing Horizon Wind Energy, and you have the seeds of a future renewable energy powerhouse in Element. Clearly we are only beginning to build Element and look forward to many exciting announcements about future additions to the team.”
