The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan has promoted Mark Katz from assistant portfolio manager to portfolio manager, with responsibility for originating and executing private transactions in emerging markets.

Mr. Katz is a Portfolio Manager at Ontario Teachers´ Pension Plan (Alternative Investments group), where he is responsible for originating and managing Ontario Teachers’ investments with external managers globally, including direct managed accounts/joint ventures, hedge funds and LP-structured debt funds. Prior to joining OTPP, Mr. Katz spent 3 years at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce working with CIBC Capital Partners and the bank’s leveraged finance group in structuring and executing private equity investments, mezzanine debt financings and similar transactions. Before that, he was a senior associate at Stikeman Elliott LLP in Toronto focusing on private equity and banking transactions. Mr. Katz obtained his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and his MBA from the Schulich School of Business.
