OPTrust’s Omar Khalifa joins Fengate’s private equity team

Fengate Real Asset Investments has appointed Omar Khalifa as a director, serving with the firm’s private equity team. He will be responsible for originating, evaluating and executing private equity deal opportunities in Canada and internationally.

Khalifa joins Fengate from the private markets group of OPTrust, where he worked for 10 years, most recently as a director. He served in the Canadian pension fund manager’s London and Toronto offices.

Toronto-based Fengate launched its private equity business in 2017.

Omar Khalifa joins Fengate’s Private Equity team

Fengate continues to grow the firm’s Private Equity division, welcoming Omar Khalifa as the newest addition to the senior professional team. Omar joins Fengate as Director, Private Equity.

Returning home to Toronto from London, United Kingdom, where he was a Director with OPTrust Private Markets Group, Omar will focus on sourcing, evaluating and executing private equity and infrastructure investments in North America. Omar is experienced in private equity and infrastructure investments across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Omar also previously worked at BMO Capital Markets.

Fengate launched its private equity business in 2017. Investments include Seasons Retirement Communities, eStruxture and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
