The Canadian affiliate of Big Rock Sports LLC has acquired KTL Canada Inc, a fishing tackle and outdoor recreation distribution company based in Mississauga, Ontario. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Graham, North Carolina, Big Rock is an outdoor sporting goods distributor in North America. It said the acquisition will expand its presence in the Canadian market. Big Rock is a portfolio investment of U.S. private equity firm Bison Capital Asset Management. Bison and Big Rock management bought the business in 2007.

Big Rock Sports, Canada Acquires KTL Canada

GRAHAM, NC—Officials from Big Rock Sports, Canada announced today that the outdoor distributor has acquired KTL Canada, a fishing tackle distributor based in Mississauga, ON. The acquisition will greatly expand KTL Canada’s product offering and enable the distributor to supply its customers with a wider assortment of products in both the fishing and shooting sports categories.
KTL Canada’s management, sales and customer service teams and all current employees will remain intact at KTL’s current facility in Mississauga. Day-to-day operations at KTL Canada will continue to be managed by Director of Operations Shawn Glowka.

Big Rock Sports expanded into western Canada by acquiring Inland Pacific in 2011. This acquisition gave Canadian outdoor retailers access to a greatly expanded assortment of shooting sports and fishing products as well as business-building resources. Over the last 12 months, Big Rock Sports, Canada has continued to invest in its western Canada operations by adding sales representatives to the fishing, camping and marine team and by opening a new warehouse with an expanded West Coast assortment.
