PE-backed Telecon acquires assets of AGIR Consultants

Telecon Group has bought the assets of AGIR Consultants Inc, a telecommunications services provider with offices in Québec. The financial terms of the deal were not published. Telecon, a Canadian specialist in the design, location, construction, maintenance and repair of telecommunications networks, said the acquisition will reinforce its Québec market presence. Based in Pointe-aux-trembles, Québec, the company is a portfolio investment of Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. Last year, the two investors financed Telecon’s buy of the engineering services unit of Netricom.

More than 100 highly skilled employees of AGIR Consultants, recognized for the quality of professional and technical services required for engineering and designing of telecommunications networks, will join TELECON. All jobs are preserved.

TELECON, whose headquarters is located in Pointe-aux-trembles, offers turnkey solutions as well as specific and dedicated services for the design, locate, construction, maintenance and repair of telecommunications since 1967. Its customers include major players in the telephony, cable television and Internet sector, as well as telecommunications network operators. The company now has more than 2,500 employees, including nearly 900 in Québec. In 2011, Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec became majority shareholders and invested $60M in the company.
