New Enterprise Associates has closed its twelfth venture capital fund with $2.5 billion in capital commitments.

Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd. of Pune, India has agreed to receive a $50 million private equity infusion from The Blackstone Group.

Tom Daschle, former U.S. Senator from South Dakota, has resigned from the board of Apollo Investment Corp. (Nasdaq: AINV), the publicly-traded business development company of Apollo Management. He had joined just three months ago, with Apollo saying that his resignation “was due to other commitments that made him unable to continue as a director.

    VC Deals

CoreOptics, a Germany-based provider of optical networking subsystems, has raised $28 million in Series D funding. GIMV and Quest for Growth were joined by return backers Crescendo Ventures, TVM and High Tech Private Equity.

CacheLogic, a Cambridge, UK-based provider of P2P technology to the ISP sector, has raised $20 million in Series C funding. Amadeus Capital Partners led the deal, and was joined by Pentech Ventures, The Cambridge Gateway Fund and return backer 3i Group.

eFashionSolutions LLC, a Secaucus, N.J.-based provider of outsourced ecommerce systems and services to the fashion apparel and accessories market, has raised $17.4 million in new venture capital funding. ABS Capital Partners led the deal, and was joined by return backer Seacoast Capital Partners.

Alder Biopharmaceuticals Inc., a Bothell, Wash.-based developer of antibody therapeutics for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, has raised $16 million in Series B funding. H.I.G. Ventures led the deal, and was joined by return backers Sevin Rosen Funds, Ventures West and WRF Capital.

Austin Ventures has formed E-Newco Inc., a Dallas, Texas-based acquisition platform focused on the online financial services market. No financial terms were disclosed for the new company, which will be run by John Egeland, former president of Advance America Cash Advance Centers Inc. (NYSE: AEA).

G2 Microsystems Inc., a Campbell, Calif.-based developer of integrated circuits for the asset tracking and telemetry markets, has raised $14 million in Series B funding. Siemens Venture Capital led the deal, and was joined by fellow return backers Deutsche Bank Capital Partners, Starfish Ventures and UPS Strategic Enterprise Fund.

Ocera Therapeutics Inc., a San Diego-based drug company focused on the treatment of gastrointestinal and liver diseases, has raised $12 million in Series B funding. Sofinnova Ventures led the deal, and was joined by return backers Domain Associates and Thomas, McNerney & Partners.

IMImobile, a Hyderabad, India-based developer of wireless technology platforms and content aggregation services for mobile operators, has raised $10 million from Pequot Ventures.

ReDent-Nova, an Israel-based developer of an endodontic dentistry device, has raised $2.7 million in new VC funding led by Infinity Venture Capital.

, a Lansing, Ill.-based producer of eggs under the Davidson's Safest Choice Eggs brand, has received a “multi-million dollar” venture infusion from Hopewell Ventures.

Moda Technology Partners, a Wayne, Pa.-based provider of commercial software for regulatory compliance within pharmaceutical manufacturing, has raised $2.3 million in Series A funding led by Osage Ventures.

Quake, a Dallas, Texas-based provider of Internet and telephone security software for financial transactions, has raised $1.1 million in angel funding.The company also plans to raise a $5 million Series A round later this year, and to launch a secure P2P funds transfer service via cell phone and remote charge-up of pre-paid cell
