Perella Weinberg Partners, ad advisory firm based in London and New York, today has added Richard J. Shinder and Agnes K. Tang to its restructuring group as Managing Director and Director, respectively. Shinder joins from Goldman Sachs; Tang from Houlihan Lokey.
Perella Weinberg Partners today announced the expansion of the firm’s restructuring group with the additions of Richard J. Shinder and Agnes K. Tang.
Mr. Shinder, who joins the firm as a Managing Director, has over 15 years of restructuring and distressed investing experience, having executed a broad range of complex restructuring advisory assignments for debtor, creditor and financial sponsor clients. He joins Perella Weinberg Partners from Goldman Sachs, where he was a senior member and founder of Distressed Principal Investing in the Americas Special Situations Group. Prior to that, he spent 10 years as a restructuring advisor, primarily as a Managing Director in Blackstone’s Restructuring and Reorganization Advisory Group.
Ms. Tang, who joins Perella Weinberg Partners as a Director, has over 10 years of investment banking and management consulting experience, most recently as a senior member of Houlihan Lokey’s Financial Restructuring Group where she spent 7 years focused on restructuring transactions representing both companies and creditors across a variety of industries.

Perella Weinberg Partners’ financial restructuring group was formed in January 2007 when the firm acquired the business of Kramer Capital Partners. Biography of Richard J. Shinder
Richard J. Shinder has over 15 years of financial restructuring and distressed investment experience. He was Director and Co-Head of Distressed Principal Investing in Goldman Sachs’ Americas Special Situations Group from April 2008 to May 2009. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President of Distressed Private and Structured Investments at Avenue Capital Group, an alternative investment firm with more than $20 billion of assets under management. Mr. Shinder served as a Managing Director and Group Head of Merrill Lynch’s Global Special Situations Group in 2006-2007 where he worked to develop a multi-disciplinary application of restructuring advisory expertise in the principal investment, restructuring finance and advisory market spaces. From 2000-2006, he was a Managing Director of Blackstone’s Restructuring and Reorganization Advisory Group where he was responsible for the execution of complex financial restructuring assignments, including representing Enron Corp., the most complex chapter 11 filing in U.S. history, and new business development. Mr. Shinder began his career at Lehman Brothers in 1993 and departed in 2000 as a Vice President in the Leveraged Finance Group. Mr. Shinder has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gonzaga University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania.
Biography of Agnes K. Tang
Agnes Tang was a Senior Vice President in Houlihan Lokey’s Financial Restructuring Group from 2002 to October 2008. In this role, she completed a variety of transactions in the consumer products, retail and media/telecommunications industries. Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Ms. Tang was an Associate in Marsh & McLennan Capital’s Communications and Information Fund. She began her career at Mercer Management Consulting in 1996. Ms. Tang has a B.A. from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
