Permira Naming Buffini Chairman

Permira will name Damon Buffini, a co-founder and managing partner, in the new role of chairman today as part of the group's transformation from a British buyout group to a global private equity company, the Times reported, citing no sources.

Under the management shake-up, Buffini will focus on Permira's overall strategy, funding and developing new businesses and will relinquish control of the day-to-day running of the buyout business.

Tom Lister, who manages the New York office, and Kurt Bjorklund, who runs the Nordic operations, will take over as co-managing partners.

Lister denied any plans for a possible flotation, the paper said.
