Peter Notz has joined Drum Capital Management as a vice president and manager of investment diligence. He previously was a senior associate with HRJ Capital.

Drum Capital Management LLC, an independent investment management firm dedicated to distressed and turnaround investments, today announced the appointment of Peter Notz as Vice President, Manager of Investment Diligence. He will be based in Drum’s Stamford, Connecticut, headquarters.

Mr. Notz, 38, joins Drum from HRJ Capital, where he was a Senior Associate, responsible for sourcing, due diligence and monitoring of US and European distressed and buyout partnerships and co-investments. Mr. Notz began his career as an officer in the United States Navy, serving as a naval aviator flying the F-14 Tomcat and FA-18 Hornet aircraft. During more than a decade of active service, Mr. Notz advanced to Training Officer and was recognized throughout the strike-fighter community as a leader and innovator. He was selected as one of only five department heads to lead the first FA-18F squadron into combat on the unit’s inaugural deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mr. Notz received an MBA, with honors, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S., with merit, in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Naval Academy.

“Pete’s credentials are unique and truly outstanding, and we are very pleased to welcome him to Drum Capital,” said Scott Vollmer, CEO of Drum Capital Management. “We appreciate Pete’s dedication to his country, his leadership abilities, and his success in the distressed investment arena. He is ideally suited to head our diligence efforts.”

In addition to Mr. Notz, Christopher Mayhew recently joined Drum Capital as a Distressed Investment Analyst. Mr. Mayhew is responsible for monitoring fund investments, portfolio company valuations, and investment diligence for Drum’s distressed and turnaround fund of funds. He will report to Mr. Notz.

Mr. Mayhew joins Drum Capital from Camden Partners Holding LLC, where he served as a Private Equity Analyst. His duties included monitoring portfolio companies’ performance and performing due diligence. Mr. Mayhew received a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Johns Hopkins University.
