PRESS RELEASE

Peter Schweinfurth today announced the formation of Gulf + Eastern Advisors, a private merchant advisory firm. Gulf + Eastern provides corporate revitalization, restructuring and turnaround advisory services and M&A advice. It will also assist companies in raising debt and equity financing and arrange management buy-outs and other private equity transactions using its own and third-party funds. The firm specializes in the challenges and opportunities of small and medium-sized enterprises with a consumer products and service sector focus.

Prior to founding Gulf + Eastern Mr. Schweinfurth was a senior executive at Avenue Capital in New York and London, where he had responsibility for private investments in the U.S. and Europe. Mr. Schweinfurth previously served as Managing Director and head of Perry Strategic Capital, the private equity affiliate of Perry Capital, and from 1988 to 2000 he was an investment professional at Kelso & Company, one of the leading U.S. private equity firms. Mr. Schweinfurth has been involved with numerous successful leveraged buy-outs and distressed company acquisitions, including Oxford Automotive, Republic Engineered Products, Simonds International, Endo Pharmaceuticals, TransDigm and American Standard.

“My vision for Gulf + Eastern is to create an integrated advisory firm that provides internal operational and financial advice for its own private equity transactions and also offers that advice to third parties, thereby creating a mutually beneficial circle of views, experiences and counsel from various sectors of the economy and the world,” stated Mr. Schweinfurth. “I believe there is a greater need than ever for unbiased and independent advice, coupled with operational turnaround and restructuring expertise, and that this capability is especially pertinent in light of the unprecedented financial and economic turmoil which the world is currently witnessing.”

Gulf + Eastern will begin initially with a small network of private equity, corporate finance and turnaround professionals in the United States and Europe with a goal of increasing its team of advisors rapidly over the course of 2009 and 2010.
