Pharos Capital Promotes Pair

Pharos Capital Group has promoted Joseph Acevedo from associate to vice president and Ryan Shelton from analyst to associate. Pharos is a private equity firm with offices in Dallas and Nashville.

Pharos Capital Group, LLC, a private equity firm based in Dallas and Nashville, today announced that it has promoted Joseph Acevedo from Associate to Vice President and Ryan Shelton from Analyst to Associate. The promotions were effective June 1, 2009. Both Mr. Acevedo and Mr. Shelton work in the firm’s Dallas office.

Mr. Acevedo will continue to help lead deal execution and due diligence and will increasingly be responsible for monitoring the firm’s portfolio companies. He will also become more active in deal sourcing. He played an integral role in Pharos’s 2008 investment (through Lighthouse Holdings, Inc.) in American Beacon Advisors, Inc., the former asset management subsidiary of AMR Corporation. Mr. Acevedo will continue to work closely with portfolio companies, including MCCI Medical Group, Medfinders and Reel FX. Mr. Shelton will oversee due diligence and contract review for the firm’s deals and work closely with CFOs of portfolio companies. He will continue to have significant involvement with Pharos’s portfolio companies, including Converge, Pioneer Surgical Technology, StreamServe, and Travel Holdings.

Mr. Acevedo, 34, joined Pharos in 2006 as an Associate. He has over a dozen years of experience as a private equity, media, and Wall Street professional. Prior to joining Pharos, Mr. Acevedo was Director of Business Development at Univision Communications, Inc. where he launched and managed the company’s home entertainment division. Previously, he performed valuation and due diligence at JP Morgan as an equity research analyst covering the telecommunications and media industries. Mr. Acevedo began his career with Merrill Lynch & Co. where he was involved with structuring and executing numerous public finance and fixed income transactions. Mr. Acevedo graduated from Harvard College with an A.B., cum laude, in Government and holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School. He is a member of the New America Alliance and is a Robert A. Toigo Foundation Fellow.

Mr. Shelton, 25, joined Pharos as an analyst in 2006. Before that, he worked at Fowler Valuation Services in Austin, Texas, where he valued small and medium-sized businesses for estate planning, shareholder buyouts, and mergers and acquisitions. He is a graduate of the University of Texas, where he received a B.B.A. in Finance and B.A. in Economics.
