PRESS RELEASE
New York, NY – September 9, 2013 – DavidBartonGym, a national chain of upscale gyms, today announced the launch of its growth strategy to bring the DavidBartonGym brand to new markets. At the same time, the company announced the appointment of Kevin Kavanaugh as president of the company, effective immediately, replacing David Barton, who resigned his position recently.
A 14-year veteran of the company, Kavanaugh previously served as executive vice president in charge of operations company-wide. Kavanaugh reports to CEO Howard Brodsky.
“I am extremely pleased to welcome Kevin to a position he has earned through his many years at DavidBartonGym,” stated Brodsky. “There is no one who knows the company more thoroughly than Kevin, who is respected more by our staff, or who has a stronger commitment to our organization. I have every confidence that he will bring new energy and vision as we bring the DavidBartonGym brand into more cities nationwide, including Philadelphia and Boston. Along with our newest gym in the Archive Building in the West Village, we are also seeking additional locations in our core New York and Los Angeles areas.”
Kavanaugh came to DavidBartonGym from a career in the non-profit sector in Washington, D.C. and New York City. He joined a start-up direct marketing agency in the healthcare sector that provided clearinghouse information on chronic illnesses to non-profit agencies nationwide. In 1999, he joined David Barton Gym as a front-desk employee; since then, he has held virtually every position in the company and has managed the design and development of gyms in New York, Miami, and Seattle. A Massachusetts native, Kavanaugh holds a B.A. in Psychology from Auburn University. He resides in Manhattan and lives up to the company motto by recently losing 150 pounds.
“I am excited to work with Howard and our 600 loyal employees nationwide on our next phase of growth,” Kavanaugh announced. “David Barton built a great foundation for a very special gym experience. We will continue our core values and mission to provide the most beautiful, uniquely designed gyms anywhere, and continuing our focus on personal training, to ensure that members and guests always…LookBetterNaked!”
