The hire will work directly with the firm’s managing directors and are involved in all facets of merchant banking activities, including research and analysis related to transaction origination and execution, compiling industry and company data, developing financial models and preparing valuation analyses. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of investment banking or related experience in addition to an undergraduate degree. Series 7 and 79 are desired but not required at start. The hire will work closely with investor relations, marketing and teams across the firm with responsibility for conducting ad-hoc research/projects, managing and analyzing data and coordinating the execution of the appropriate follow-up activities with prospective and current clients. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree with a proven record of academic success; and one to three years’ professional experience, ideally with a business/operational focus. Experience in a professional or financial services firm is a plus. The position is in Chicago.

The hire should specialize in asset management and private fund formation to support BlackRock in building these solutions for our clients. The role will involve client contracting, advisory and outsourced chief investment officer engagements and investments in third-party private funds. Candidates should have a J.D. with superior academic credentials from a nationally-recognized law school. Also, he or she should have four to six years’ experience as a lawyer in the asset management or fund formation group within a major law firm, the legal department of a diversified investment management firm or the asset management division of an investment bank. Fund formation and contract negotiation experience are required, as well as familiarity with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Dodd-Frank Act and the federal securities laws.
