Private Equity Jobs of the Week: Texas Teachers, Morgan Stanley, Cambridge Associates are hiring

Teacher Retirement System of Texas is seeking a private equity associate or senior associate to join its principal investments team. The hire will perform due diligence analysis of potential PE direct investments and assist with day-to-day monitoring and reporting of the investment portfolio. This is an opportunity to conduct complex investments research and analysis and to support a variety of M&A transactions including buyouts, growth equity, and distressed private equity. Qualifications include two years of experience for the associate level and three years for senior associate. The position is located in Austin, TX.

Morgan Stanley is looking to hire an investment banking M&A vice president. The Western Region M&A team supports all non-tech M&A, including healthcare, industrials, consumer/retail, gaming and financial sponsors. The successful candidate will work with regional and international clients on acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, shareholder relations, recapitalizations, demergers, leveraged buyouts, defenses against unsolicited takeover attempts and strategic advisory assignments. At least three years in investment banking as an associate/VP, with a proven track record working on complex executed M&A deals, are required. The position is located in Los Angeles.

Cambridge Associates is in the market for an investment director, private clients. Responsibilities include creating and developing diversified portfolios to enable increased returns and lower volatility, consistent with time horizon, risk tolerance, and income needs of clients; selecting and evaluating investment managers for virtually all asset classes, including alternatives such as venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, real estate, timberland, and oil & gas; and developing and implementing investment objectives, policies, and asset allocations for complex trust structures. Three to five years of investment experience, including graduate work focused on the capital markets, are required. The position is located in Boston.

Robert W. Baird has an opening for an investment banking vice president in its industrial group. Duties include assisting senior bankers in the business development effort, leading transaction execution teams, and working on a variety of equity financing (IPO, follow-on, private placement, growth equity) and domestic/cross-border M&A transactions, strategic alliances, and partnership arrangements. Prior investment banking experience and knowledge of the life sciences industry are required; MBA or JD preferred. The position is located in Chicago.

Edison Partners is searching for a full-time associate for its investment team. The position is responsible for gathering and assembling investment opportunities and information from various sources, including self-initiated and composed emails and phone calls, speaking to company management and industry peers, and conducting raw research. Two to three years of experience working in or with a startup or growth-stage technology company is preferred, but not required.
