Private Equity Jobs of the Week: Baird, Carlyle, Sanofi are hiring

A weekly roundup of jobs in the private equity industry – from buyout shops to venture capital funds to investment banks.

Baird Capital Partners is seeking a senior associate or vice president, portfolio operations, to work closely with the funds’ investments teams, operations resources, and portfolio company senior management. Responsibilities include global sourcing coordination, investment diligence, portfolio integration, and management of Baird’s share spend program. Applicants should have seven to fifteen years of relevant work experience, including with business and technology services, industrial, and healthcare companies, as well as extensive knowledge of operational best practice tools (such as lean, six sigma, inventory management and optimization). The position is located in Chicago.

The San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System is in the market a senior portfolio manager for its private equity portfolio, which includes buyouts, venture capital, growth capital and special situations investments. The hire will have the opportunity to help construct and manage a global PE portfolio through the sourcing, underwriting, execution, and active management of global investment partnerships and direct investments. Requirements include six years of experience with an investment management firm, pension plan, university, endowment, foundation, corporation, family office, or consulting firm. Meaningful, active relationships with leading venture capital investment managers and extensive private equity experience are desirable. The position involves global travel and is located in San Francisco.

Silicon Valley Bank is looking to hire a vice president, private equity services to drive, manage, and maintain banking and lending relationships with private equity and venture capital firms. The position entails working with PE and VC CFOs and finance teams and requires a strong ability and desire to underwrite deals end to end. The successful candidate will support senior bankers in portfolio management and maintenance and be a credit lead or co-lead for a portfolio of clients. Qualifications include at least five years of commercial banking or related experience and excellent credit analysis skills. The position is located in Menlo Park, California.

The Carlyle Group has an opening for an associate in the managed accounts investment group area within corporate private equity. The group focuses on structuring and managing customized investment programs for institutional investors across alternative asset classes. Duties include investment allocation to Carlyle investment products, analysis of fund and co-investments, market research, structuring, business development, project management and new project development. Candidates should have at least two to three years’ experience with alternative investments, particularly private equity, credit, and real assets. Certifications CAIA or CFA are desirable but not required. The position is located in New York.

Sanofi US is recruiting a senior director of investments for Sanofi-Genzyme BioVentures, a strategic venture capital fund investing in early-state innovative companies. The hire will be tasked with actively sourcing transactions, presenting deals to the investment committee, and taking board-level roles. The role also includes portfolio management and support of other equity investment activities on broader transactions. At least five years of directly relevant business experience in the life sciences industry are required, including two or more years of investing experience at a successful VC firm. Prior work in biotech, investment banking, accounting and/or consulting is desirable. The position is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
