Providence-backed Patron Technology buys Marcato

Patron Technology, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based live event technology company, has acquired Marcato, a Sydney, Nova Scotia-based provider of event logistics software.

No financial terms were disclosed.

Founded in 2008 by CEO Darren Gallop and CTO Morgan Currie, Marcato partners with more than 300 festivals and live events worldwide. Its investors included Canadian venture capital firm Innovacorp.

Patron said the acquisition adds event logistics and operations to its product offering.

Patron is a portfolio investment of U.S. private equity firm Providence Equity Partners. Providence acquired a majority stake in the company last year.

Patron Technology Acquires Event Logistics Company, Marcato Digital


Patron Technology, an industry-leading live event technology company, announced today it has acquired Marcato, a global provider of event logistics software. Marcato will continue to service its clients with innovative technology as the company becomes integrated into the growing Patron Technology platform. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Marcato provides a web based platform for festivals to efficiently and effectively manage backend logistics including credentialing, artist advancing, asset management, catering and much more. They work with over 300 events, globally.
