VC-backed Bicycle Therapeutics goes public

UK-based Bicycle Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical firm, has raised about $60.7 million for its IPO after pricing its over 4.3 million shares at $14 per share. The stock began trading May 23, 2019 on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “BCYC.” Goldman Sachs, Jefferies LLC and Piper Jaffray & Co are the lead underwriters. Bicycle Therapeutics’ pre-IPO backers included Vertex Ventures HC, Cambridge Innovation Capital, Longwood Fund, Novartis Venture Fund, SROne, SVLS and Atlas Venture.

On-demand staffing app Instawork lands $18 mln

Instawork, on-demand staffing app for gig workers and hospitality businesses, has raised $18 million in funding, according to a blog post on its site. The investors were Spark Capital, GV, Burst Capital, Benchmark, Y Combinator, Tuesday Capital and SV Angel. As part of the round, Nabeel Hyatt, a general partner at Spark Capital, will join the Instawork board.

Lion Street said May 22 that it completed a recapitalization of the company which returned equity the firm and its owners. Lion Street, of Austin, provides life insurance services. The company has raised $11.1 million in funding, from investors including Austin Ventures, PitchBook said.

Salesforce Ventures launches $125 mln regional fund focused on Europe

Salesforce Ventures announced a $125 million Europe Trailblazer Fund focused on enterprise cloud startups. This is the firm’s fourth regional fund in the last 12 months, following launches in Canada, Japan and Australia most recently in March. In 2015, Salesforce Ventures introduced its first $100 million investment commitment in Europe and brought on Alex Kayyal as partner and head of Europe to lead the fund, which has since backed more than 50 startups in 13 European countries.
