Burger-flipping robotics company Miso raises $10 mln

Pasadena, California-based Miso Robotics, a developer of robotics and artificial intelligence technology for restaurants and food providers, announced it raised $1o million in Series B funding. Acacia Research Corporation led the funding, which included Levy, the sports and entertainment hospitality company, OpenTable’s Chief Technology Officer Joseph Essas, and founding investor Cali Group, as well as six members of Cali Group’s management team and its subsidiary company, CaliBurger. The company said it will use the funding to develop its burger-flipping robot Flippy. Miso, founded in 2016, says that it will debut Flippy at CaliBurger’s Pasadena location and will roll out the autonomous robotic kitchen assistant to more than 50 CaliBurger restaurants worldwide by the end of 2019.

Video tech startup Vydia reels in $7 mln Series A

Holmdel, New Jersey-based Vydia, a video tech startup, has raised $7 million in Series A funding. Vocap Investment Partners led the round with participation from Newark Venture Partners. In addition to the funding, Vinny Olmstead, a managing director at Vocap, will join Vydia’s board of directors.

Photo platform Unsplash raises C$7.25 mln in OST-led Series A

Unsplash, a free, curated photo platform based in Montréal, has raised C$7.25 million in a Series A financing. The round was led by OST, a blockchain technology company that sponsors Simple Token, a digital currency enabler. In a blog post, OST said its investment was a combination of 80 percent cash and 20 percent tokens. OST CEO Jason Goldberg will join the board as a result. The financing’s other new and returning investors included Accomplice, Betaworks and Real Ventures. Unsplash CEO Mikael Cho, who co-founded the company in 2013, said the funds raised will help create a “new economic model around photography” using cryptocurrency.

Philadelphia-based 1315 Capital has raised $300 million for its fund, 1315 Capital II, according to a regulatory filing. The firm invests in pharmaceutical, medical technology, and healthcare service companies, according to its website. It is led by Adele Oliva, Michael Koby, and Brian Schwenk. The fund closed at its hard cap of $300 million, exceeding its $250 million target, according to a press release. The filing lists 57 investors.
