RoadLink Buys West Coast Trucking

Roadlink USA, a Chicago-based intermodal logistics company backed by Fenway Partners, has acquired West Coast Trucking, a Seattle-based intermodal trucking service provider. No financial terms were disclosed.

PRESS RELEASE

RoadLink, the largest private independent Intermodal Logistics service provider in North America, announced today the purchase of Seattle-based intermodal trucking service provider West Coast Trucking (WCT). The acquisition further supports RoadLink's position as the leading provider of intermodal transportation and specialized warehousing services in North America.

With major operations centers in Seattle, Wash. And Portland, Ore., WCT moves containerized freight between ports or rail terminals to a shipper's or receiver's location, serving ocean carriers, shippers, railroads and intermodal marketing companies with a fleet of 70 trucks. According to RoadLink President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Munro, the integration of WCT will strategically expand RoadLink's presence in the Pacific Northwest and further extend the company's service to Canadian markets.

“The acquisition contributes to the strategic expansion and direction of RoadLink as we continue to look for opportunities for growth on the West Coast and across North America,” said Munro. “With this transaction, we're adding a great regional staff, expanding services into and out of Canada and building upon our established capabilities and leadership throughout the North American market. Customers will benefit from the great synergies that result from our acquisition of WCT, being able to select from either a single comprehensive, end-to-end solution or individual best-of-breed services, depending on their specific circumstances and requirements.”

WCT shares RoadLink's emphasis on technology, aimed at enhancing efficiency and customer service in all aspects of operations, and follows a solution-based business model that is similar to RoadLink's structure. These common attributes facilitate the integration of WCT's operations into RoadLink, yielding additional operating efficiencies.

The expansion of RoadLink offers further opportunity to increase market share and improve profitability in the competitive transportation and logistics market. According to WCT Owner and General Manager Dan Gatchet, the acquisition will deliver unmatched offerings to WCT customers.

“Our customers will quickly see the benefits of being served by North America's leading intermodal transportation and warehouse service provider. RoadLink's ability to take complex intermodal and materials handling challenges and turn them into customer opportunities that will help spur their business growth is unmatched,” said Gatchet. “Likewise, this strategic transaction ultimately gives our employees the opportunity to be a part of a company that is setting new standards of performance in our industry.”

Following conclusion of the transaction, Gatchet will join RoadLink as Area manager of the company's Pacific North Area and WCT will be officially rebranded as RoadLink to fully harness the power of this acquisition for customers.
