SALT LAKE CITY–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sorenson Capital today announced that it has hired Rob Rueckert, formerly a managing director at Intel Capital, to further expand its existing technology practice within the firm.

“Bringing Rob on board signifies our plans to further increase our focus on additional tech-based, growth investment opportunities across new and emerging sectors,” said Fraser Bullock, founder and managing director of Sorenson Capital. “Rob has a unique ability to identify profitable investments while mitigating risk. He has a perfect mix of operational experience combined with a technical background and will be an instrumental member of the leadership team as we continue to expand our presence in the growth-tech sector.”
During Rueckert’s tenure at Intel Capital, he invested in more than 50 companies across multiple technology sectors and geographies. As the managing director for the new devices and wearables group at Intel Capital, Rueckert was responsible for identifying potential investments, with a focus on hiring management teams and assisting in the growth of those companies.
In addition, at Intel Capital, Rueckert managed and oversaw more than 20 exits from its portfolio, including Accentify Inc., which was acquired by American Express, and Perceptive Pixel, which was acquired by Microsoft and is now one of its divisions specializing in research, development and production of multi-touch interfaces.
“I’m excited to join the team at Sorenson Capital and am looking forward to continuing to work with innovative growth stage tech companies,” said Rueckert. “The opportunities for new growth technology investments are wide ranging, especially during this time of rapid disruption. What has attracted me to Sorenson is the firm’s ability and track record of engaging in a meaningful way to accelerate the growth of the companies they invest in, while being attentive to the needs of the management team.”
Prior to joining Intel Capital, Rueckert worked as a technology consultant for Arthur Andersen and has worked for several companies in executive roles. Rueckert has an MBA from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in information systems from Brigham Young University.
