Ryerson Has Bought Singer Steel Co.

Ryerson Inc., which is backed by Platinum Equity, has acquired Singer Steel Co. Financial terms were not announced. Cleveland-based Singer Steel Co. is a steel service center providing processed steel sheet and plate to the industrial equipment, fabrication and agriculture markets. News of the deal was announced by Stout Risius Ross, which advised Singer Steel.

Stout Risius Ross (SRR) announced today that its client, Singer
Steel Company (Singer) has been acquired by Ryerson, Inc. (Ryerson). SRR initiated,
structured, and negotiated the sale.
Singer Steel Company is a Cleveland, OH based steel service center providing processed steel
sheet and plate to the industrial equipment, fabrication and agriculture markets.
Ryerson, Inc. is a Platinum Equity owned $4 billion service center operating throughout the
United States, Canada, and China.
“Ryerson’s resources will allow Singer to expand its customer base, better serve its customers,
and provide further growth opportunities to Singer and its employees,” stated Bruce Alexander,
President of Singer.
