Sankaty Advisors Adds Eric Karp as Senior Advisor

Sankaty Advisors, a private manager of fixed income and credit instruments, said that it has added Eric Karp as a Senior Advisor. Karp will help the firm identify and pursue new credit investment opportunities, especially in the sponsored LBO space, the firm said in a statement. Karp was most recently global head of financial sponsors at Bank of America. Sankaty has offices in Boston, New York, Chicago and London.

Sankaty Advisors, one of the leading private managers of fixed income and credit instruments, today announced it has further enhanced its transaction sourcing efforts with the appointment of Eric Karp as a Senior Advisor. Karp will help Sankaty identify and pursue new credit investment opportunities, especially in the sponsored LBO space. Karp joins an experienced transaction flow team that includes Andrew Carlino, a Managing Director, who was recently named to coordinate Sankaty’s overall sourcing effort for debt opportunities; Tim Barns and Michael Bevacqua, two Managing Directors focused on identifying turnaround and distressed opportunities; and a sixteen-member group of professionals, led by Managing Director Michael Ewald, who are concentrated on middle-market transactions.

Karp has 25 years of experience in investment banking and capital markets. He was most recently Global Head of Financial Sponsors at Bank of America, where he served as a member of the Credit Commitment Committee, Investment Banking Management Committee and Principal Investment Committee.

Prior to Bank of America, Karp held similar positions at JP Morgan and Bear Stearns. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science from State University of New York at Stony Brook.
