SierraConstellation Partners has appointed Basil Karampelas as head of the firm’s Houston office. Recently, he was managing director for an unnamed national advisory firm.
HOUSTON & LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–SierraConstellation Partners (SCP), a national interim management and advisory firm to middle-market companies in transition, announced today that Basil Karampelas has been appointed Head of the firm’s Houston office.
“Basil has seen turnarounds from every possible angle throughout his career, from serving as an adviser, to coming in as a CFO and CEO to usher companies through difficult times of change,” said SCP Founder and CEO Larry Perkins. “His experience is particularly strong in the financial aspects of restructuring, which we are finding an increasing demand for among our clients. I am confident Basil will do an excellent job in continuing to grow our presence in Houston.”
Perkins added, “Our commitment to the Southwest region remains strong, and has not changed since we opened our Houston office in 2016. We believe there is a wealth of opportunities for a nimble, senior-heavy firm like ours to work with middle-market companies not just in the energy sector, but in industries such as healthcare, real estate, manufacturing, and transportation, among others.”
Before joining SCP earlier this year, Karampelas spent nearly three decades in a variety of senior financial, operational, and advisory roles. Most recently, Karampelas served as a Managing Director for a national advisory firm, leading the firm’s restructuring practice for the natural resource, chemical and renewable industries. He has also served as the President and Head of Origination for American Process Inc.; as an operating partner at Plainfeld Asset Management, where he served in interim C-suite positions at the firm’s portfolio companies; and as a Managing Director at BP Energy Financial Services, where he co-founded and led BP’s US merchant banking operation. Earlier in his career, he honed his skills at the world-class advisory firms Salomon Brothers and Wasserstein Perella.
“This is an incredible vote of confidence from Larry and the SCP team, and I’m honored to step into this new role,” said Karampelas. “Houston is a place I have called home for many years and where I have deep professional roots, so I am looking forward to building SCP’s presence both here and throughout the region.”
Karampelas holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and History (with distinction) from Stanford University, and an M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. Karampelas also serves as a guest lecturer at the Fordham University Gabelli School of Business in New York.
In addition to its office in Houston and its Los Angeles headquarters, SCP opened an office in Boston in 2018 under the leadership of Tom Lynch and continues to grow across the country.
