Shackleton Equity Acquires Excel Meridian Data

Shackleton Equity Partners has acquired Excel Meridian Data, a Carrollton, Texas-based provider of computer data storage equipment for the education, gaming, government and video surveillance industries. No financial terms were disclosed.

Excel Meridian Data, a leading provider of computer data storage equipment in the education, gaming, government, and video surveillance industries, has been acquired by the private equity firm Shackleton Equity Partners. Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.

Excel Meridian Data’s data storage solutions are of the highest quality yet competitively priced versus its tier-one competitors such as Hewlett Packard, IBM, and Dell. Meanwhile, EMD offers its customers one-on-one customer support with a dedicated point of contact. Furthermore, EMD offers customers expert IT solutions for data archiving, disaster recovery, virtualization, and antivirus protection.

“Shackleton’s investment in EMD will allow us to expand our data storage hardware and software offering to customers that stand to benefit from our competitive pricing,” said Ryan D. Roberts, the CEO of the company. Ryan has rejoined the business as its CEO, and his focus will be on expanding the company’s product offering and customer support.

EMD’s current clients include companies such as the U.S. Army, L-3 Communications, Harvard, and Savvis.
