PRESS RELEASE
StyleFeeder (www.stylefeeder.com), the personal shopping engine, has secured $2 million in Series A financing from Highland Capital Partners and Schooner Capital. Since receiving seed financing last year, StyleFeeder has grown significantly and has become the largest shopping application on Facebook, with more than half a million users. The company will use its Series A round to expand its team while continuing to grow its consumer base.
“We are the only personal shopping engine with a technology that gets to know your personal style and can recommend products that reflect it,” said Philip Jacob, founder and CTO of StyleFeeder. “We look forward to using our unique technology to enhance the experience of online shoppers and to secure more deals with top-tier brands looking to connect more deeply with their customers.”
StyleFeeder combines the best of Web 2.0's social and personalization aspects in the Web's only intelligent personal shopping recommendation engine. By learning about each person's unique sense of style, StyleFeeder helps shoppers discover new products they'll love and other people who share their tastes. Unlike traditional retail models, StyleFeeder's approach puts the power of online merchandising in the shoppers' hands, creating personal wishlists that function as virtual storefronts filled with products tailored just for them.
“StyleFeeder has developed a one-of-a-kind discovery engine that makes the experience of shopping with a traditional search engine like Yahoo! and Google seem cumbersome and outdated,” said Dan Nova, managing general partner for Highland Capital Partners. “The StyleFeeder team has already demonstrated its ability to turn that technical advantage into a base of registered users. They have the right team and the right technology to become the leading provider of personalized shopping discovery solutions.”
StyleFeeder currently works with celebrity icons such as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Dylan and Cole Sprouse to help them create more intimate connections with their fans while enhancing their own brands and visibility by sharing their expertise. The company has also started to build out significant revenue hooks to monetize its growing community, working with Amazon, Performics, Linkshare and Commission Junction to actively tag its library of items to further build out its sources of affiliate revenue.
